"Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear" -Mark Twain

We can help with the diagnosis and treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Panic Disorder, Social Phobia, and other anxiety related issues.  In addition to working with adults, we are skilled at working with children, helping parents with the guidance they need to help their child succeed using the tools of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

How It Works

Step 1: Diagnostic Assessment - In the first step of the assessment process there is typically a 2-hour meeting to review your history with OCD and anxiety problems and provide a formal diagnostic assessment using scientifically-validated measures of anxiety disorders.

Step 2: Review diagnosis and education - Following your diagnostic assessment you will be educated in what is currently known about the most effective tools to help manage your specific OCD or anxiety issues.  These initial sessions will provide valuable information and serve as a guide for you to understand why you will be learning certain skills in treatment and how they can help you manage your anxiety.

Step 3:  Treatment and Follow-up - Once you have a firm understanding of how your specific OCD and/or anxiety problem is working, you will learn the cognitive behavioral skills needed to manage these issues on your own.  Our goal is to make you into your own therapist over time, not to have you in therapy forever.  We tailor customized treatment plans for each client pulling scientifically proven techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy, exposure-based therapy, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness training to ensure treatment is specific, relevant, and effective.  Although many people find they do not require follow-up sessions once they have learned how to manage, follow-up sessions can be a helpful means to reducing the likelihood of relapse in the future.
